TechQuarters are fully Cyber Essentials accredited, among other things, and we use this same criteria for our Cyber Security Assessment service.
For the Cyber Essentials accreditation involves a self-assessment according to 5 basic controls:
- Secure device configuration
- Controlling access to data and services
- Malware protection
- Keeping software up-to-date
There is another option: Cyber Essentials PLUS. This includes an active assessment of your network infrastructure, which TechQuarters have performed for many of our customers. We install an official assessment tool on your network – which gathers aggregate data from all the different areas of your network, and compiles it into a comprehensive report. Once we have assessed your network, we will discuss the reports with you, and agree on a security strategy to commence with.
More Cyber Security Recommendations
An example of a common action we recommend after the Cyber Security Assessment is Firewall-as-a-Service. As one of the 5 basic controls laid out in Cyber Essentials. Having a firewall in place in your network is a reliable security measure. With Firewall-as-a-Service, there are no upfront hardware costs – you pay a monthly fee for ongoing protection, which includes ongoing updates to the Firewall software.
If you wish to go even further with your security, TechQuarters can help you through your ISO 27001 accreditation. This is the international standard for Information Security Management. Accreditation is a 5 phase process. Once you are accredited for ISO 27001, you will be equipped with the most reliable expertise on information protection, and it will further demonstrate to your customers that you are a secure and trustworthy organisation.
What is it?
The Cyber Essentials scheme has been developed by Government. It provides a clear statement of the basic controls all organisations should implement to mitigate the risk from common internet based threats, within the context of the Government’s 10 Steps to Cyber Security.
In addition, through the Assurance Framework it helps organisations to demonstrate to customers, investors, insurers and others that they have taken these essential precautions. The Government believes that implementing these measures can significantly reduce an organisation’s vulnerability.
However, it is not a silver bullet to remove all cyber security risk; for example, it is not designed to address more advanced, targeted attacks and therefore additional measures such as EMS and FWaaS should be part of the overall security risk mitigation plan.
We perform Cyber Security Health Check Assessments highlighting your Cyber Risk, the Gap Analysis (indicating the potential legal risk, such as GDPR) and Business critical security issues that need actioning to secure your environment to optimum levels.
Our Health Check assesses your network and produces detailed reports indicating areas of weakness in security and grouping the level of risk in your business. It looks at your Identity Management, Apps and Data, Device Control and Infrastructure, reporting on all these areas for risk.

How does it work?
TechQuarters install the assessment tool on your network. It then gathers the information and details all the findings in comprehensive reports. We then discuss the findings and the implications with you, make recommendations, and jointly decide the next steps to protect and secure your network both in the short and long term.
