TechQuarters chosen Charity is the Alzheimer’s Society and Rowly is the name of our TQ bear – the company charity mascot.
Our target for 2015 is to raise £10,000. It would be greatly appreciated if you could help us obtain this money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
We decided on the Alzheimer’s charity because Chris’ Dad, Rowland Dunning, sadly passed away on November 26th 2013 after suffering from Vascular Dementia during his later years.
Vascular dementia is the second most common form of dementia after Alzheimer’s disease and affects different people in many different ways.
Typically, the symptoms of vascular dementia begin suddenly, for example after a stroke and often follows a ‘stepped’ progression, with symptoms remaining at a constant level for a time and then suddenly deteriorating.
Where did Rowly come from?
When Rowland Dunning passed away, the TechQuarters team wanted to give Chris support and organised the teddy bear for him – to let him know his team were thinking of him.
The teddy bear was then named Rowly, after Chris’ father Rowland.
Since Rowly has joined the team, TechQuarters have participated in various events to help raise money for Alzheimers.
